Process before and during

The process of sod installation typically involves several steps:

  1. Site Preparation: we will ask to Clear the area vehicles in the drive way then will remove debris, rocks, and existing vegetation. We then will Grade the soil to ensure proper drainage and a level surface.
  2. Soil Amendment: We will test the soil and add any necessary amendments, such as compost or fertilizer, to improve soil quality and provide nutrients for the new sod.
  3. Sod Delivery: we will Arrange for the delivery of fresh sod on the same day that you plan to install it to minimize stress on the grass.
  4. Installation: We will Begin laying the sod along a straight edge, such as a sidewalk or driveway, to ensure a neat appearance. Stagger the seams of the sod pieces like bricks to avoid gaps. Press the sod firmly into the soil to establish good contact.
  5. Trimming: We use a sharp knife or sod cutter to trim the edges and fit the sod around obstacles like trees, flower beds, and curbs.
  6. Watering: We Immediately after installation, thoroughly water the sod to help it settle and establish roots. Keep the sod consistently moist for the first couple of weeks, watering deeply but infrequently to encourage deep root growth.
  7. Maintenance: Avoid walking on the newly installed sod for the first few weeks to allow it to establish roots. Gradually introduce light foot traffic once the sod has rooted firmly. Follow a regular watering, fertilizing, and mowing schedule to maintain the health and appearance of the lawn.

How long do I water the grass and how many weeks?

  1. Initial watering: Immediately after installation, water the sod deeply so that the soil beneath the sod is moist. Aim to water it enough to penetrate the soil to a depth of about 4-6 inches.
  2. First week: Water the sod 2-3 times per day for the first week, keeping the soil consistently moist but not soggy. Watering in the morning and early afternoon is ideal to allow the grass to dry before evening.
  3. Second week: Reduce watering frequency to 1-2 times per day during the second week, still keeping the soil consistently moist.
  4. Subsequent weeks: Gradually decrease watering frequency as the sod establishes roots. After the first two weeks, water deeply but less frequently, allowing the soil to dry out slightly between watering sessions. Aim for about 1 inch of water per week, either through rainfall or irrigation.

Keep in mind that these are general guidelines, and the actual watering needs may vary depending on factors such as weather conditions, soil type, and grass species. It's essential to monitor the sod closely and adjust your watering schedule accordingly to ensure the best results.
